So far (after one week), AdGuard has successfully blocked nearly all ads without hampering my access to the resources I want to see. Concerns posted online about AdGuard draining my phone's battery seem to be exaggerated, as I checked and didn't see any significant draining. Overall, it is doing its job without any drawbacks.

AdGuard works flawlessly on Windows, providing seamless system-wide protection out of the box. However, the experience on Apple devices can be confusing. If you only use the free browser extension, it is strictly limited to Safari due to Apple's ecosystem restrictions. To get the same full, system-wide protection you get on Windows (covering Chrome, apps, and other traffic), you must upgrade to the standalone premium AdGuard for Mac or iOS app. It is an amazing tool, but users need to know that the free Apple version is limited.

The setup is straightforward, and the performance is consistently stable. If you are looking to get rid of ads permanently without monthly subscriptions, this is the best investment you can make.
